CIRCUIT AND DISTRICT MATTERS
Q What cover does the Circuit Policy provide?
A The Circuit Policy is a package policy similar to the Church Shield Policy. In addition to cover for the building and contents, the policy provides Loss of Revenue, Public and Employers’ Liability, Money, Personal Accident insurance and Legal Expenses.
Q Which policy covers the manses?
A It is always the Circuit Policy that provides insurance in respect of all the manses owned by the Circuit.
Q How do we calculate the amount which the buildings should be insured for?
A Although our surveyors are unable to assist you can obtain guidance via the ABI link: www.abi.org.uk/.
Circuit or District Events
Q Are we covered for Circuit organised events?
A The Circuit Policy automatically covers Circuit events taking place at Methodist Church premises.
In cases where other premises are being used, for example, those owned by a local authority, you may be asked to sign an agreement. In such cases you should contact us before doing so.
These comments also apply to District events.
Circuit Policies
Q Does the Circuit policy cover contents?
A The policy covers contents within the manse, which belong to the Circuit. These usually comprise carpets, curtains and freestanding kitchen appliances, such as cookers, fridges and washing machines, as well as office equipment, provided for the occupying minister. Fitted kitchen units, built-in ovens and hobs and appliances are treated as part of the buildings.
A standard minimum sum insured is usually included, but you should check the replacement cost of the items owned by the Circuit to ensure that they are adequately insured.
Q Does the policy cover contents belonging to the occupying minister?
A No, separate home contents insurance should be arranged by the minister to cover their own furniture and belongings. In fact, we offer a tailor-made ‘Ministers Shield’ home policy, which has been specially designed to meet the needs of Methodist Ministers and Deacons, to protect their home and office insurance requirements.
